I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other issue. Together we will discover patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are keeping you from the things you want most. In therapy, we will create an emotionally safe space founded on trust, where you are able to be with the sadness of what you didn’t get or what you got that didn’t want. Together we’ll work on strengthening your ability to connect with yourself, your thoughts and emotions with loving kindness. In the healing process you will naturally develop patterns of behaviors and feelings that will expand your ability to the pursue what you desire.
I take a holistic approach when working with clients, strengthening the mind-body connection is fundamental to the healing process. My practice specializes in treating individuals, families, and couples using therapy approaches have been proven to facilitate an understanding, support the healing process, and promote growth.
- Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) – Enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. EMDR therapy helps children and adults – all ages.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Helps in understanding how thoughts and feelings influence behaviors. Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, cope healthily with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others. It is helpful for clients struggling with depression, bulimia, binge-eating, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic-stress disorder, and substance abuse.
- Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) – Addresses the specific emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, adult survivors, and families who are struggling to overcome the destructive effects of early trauma. TF-CBT is especially sensitive to the unique problems of youth with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders resulting from abuse, violence, or grief. Because the client is usually a child, TF-CBT often brings non-offending parents or other caregivers into treatment and incorporates principles of family therapy.
- Gottman Method/Couples Therapy – This therapy aims to increase friendship and closeness in couples. It does this by showing them ways to deal with problems and conflicts in a positive way. Not all conflicts have a solution, but the theory is that you can learn to live with it and not allow it to destroy your relationship. The Gottman Method is designed to support couples across all economic, racial, sexual orientation, and cultural sectors.
